Membership is open to any individual aged 18 years or older who resides, works, or worships in our service area, including immediate family members of existing members. Businesses registered and operating in the region are also eligible for membership. You will need to provide a valid national ID or passport, one recent utility bill or bank statement, and a completed membership application form. The process takes approximately 15–30 minutes.

Yes — your deposits are federally insured up to $250,000 per member, per account type. Beyond insurance, Sesdac is regulated by the national financial regulatory authority and undergoes annual independent audits. Our capital adequacy ratios have consistently exceeded regulatory minimums by a significant margin, reflecting conservative and responsible financial management. In 15 years of operation, no member has ever lost a single dollar of their savings.

You can apply for a loan in person at our branch, via our online member portal, or by completing the contact form on this page and requesting a callback. For personal loans, decisions are typically made within 24–48 hours. Business loans require additional documentation and a review period of 3–7 business days. Emergency loans can be processed same-day in qualifying circumstances. You will need to provide proof of income, valid ID, and completed loan application form. Our advisors are available to guide you through every step.

Our Regular Savings Account can be opened with as little as $50. There is no ongoing minimum balance requirement, and you will not be charged maintenance fees for holding a zero balance. Youth Savings accounts for members under 25 have no opening deposit requirement. For our Premium Savings tier (which earns 6.75% p.a.), a minimum average monthly balance of $2,500 is required. Fixed Deposit accounts start from $500 for 30-day terms.

Yes — Sesdac members have access to a full-featured online banking portal and mobile app for Android and iOS. You can check balances, view transaction history, make fund transfers, pay bills, apply for loans, view Fixed Deposit certificates, and book advisory appointments — all from your device. The platform uses end-to-end encryption and multi-factor authentication to keep your account secure. Activation instructions are provided upon account opening.

Completely free — with no hidden fees, no upselling, and no commission-based advice. Our financial advisors are salaried employees with no incentive to recommend any product beyond what serves your specific situation. One-on-one advisory sessions are available by appointment and typically last 60 minutes. Monthly group workshops on budgeting, investing, debt management, and retirement planning are held at our branch and at partner community centers, and are open to both members and the wider public.

When you open an account at Sesdac, you automatically become a member-owner of the cooperative. This means: (1) You have one vote in our annual general meeting to elect board members and approve key decisions; (2) If the credit union generates a surplus above its reserve requirements, that surplus is returned to members as dividends or used to improve services and reduce loan rates; (3) You have the right to run for election to the Board of Directors; (4) You receive annual financial statements showing exactly how the cooperative's resources were managed. It is genuine democratic ownership — not just marketing language.
